Rolled Hem on Jersey Material
I have been turning long sleeve shirts that didn't fit my girls anymore into short sleeve shirts that fit. For the most part the shirt length and sleeves were too small but the shirts themselves were fine. I cut off the sleeves about 9in from the top of the sleeves (there's no rule to this, my girls are 9 and 11 and cutting them at 9in seems to be a good length for them) and I did a roll hem on my serger on the sleeves. I also was able to take down the hem on the shirts as there seems to be a significant amount of hem on shirts and did a rolled hem on the hem. I also did a rolled hem on the top of the 2 pieces of sleeve that were cut off for arm warmers. The biggest thing when doing a rolled hem on a stretch t shirt is to make your stitch width longer. I had to increase mine from the rolled hem setting and it's been great! A quick easy way to get longer use out of long sleeve shirts. I've pictures before and after with the shirt and my youngest daughter is modeling what we do with the sleeves we cut off
